Love and grandeur.

Happy birthday Collin! :)

Went to Vineyard last night for his birthday party, and we had a really good time! Miss those council room days though; we should totally meet up again.

The highlight of the evening was not about any of us, in fact. It was an old couple sitting next to our table. An old couple and 3 of their daughters, probably in their 30's. At first, they look normal to me, probably the table that will first complain if our table were too noisy (which most of the times were). But then the waitress served the old man a lime pie with a candle on it. The daughters sang happy birthday...and asked their mom to kiss the birthday man. It was almost like what your friends would do to a new couple (still in honeymoon stage of the relationship).

"Eh, I'm gonna kiss him--don't look!" and she kissed him on the cheek. One more time, on the lips.

:)

For the record, that's the most romantic thing I've ever seen, putting those exaggerated wedding proposals and outrageously enormous Valentine's flower bouquets to shame, because love should show itself in these small things, like a peck on the cheek on your (probably) 40 years of being together. Now that's more like grandeur.
